Printed in the book

Companion code

This address is printed in the book, so it keeps working. It leads to the public companion repository and says what is, and is not, in it.

The address for this page is printed in the book. It will keep working, and it will keep meaning the same thing, through any redesign of the rest of this site. If it ever stops resolving, that is a defect worth reporting, because a printed path cannot be corrected after printing.

Public resources

Everything the book prints a path for is in one public repository. It needs no sign-in, registration or proof of purchase.

  • docs/adr/ — Appendix C: ADR template, worked ADRs and the decision checklist
  • evaluation/scorecards/ — Appendix E: benchmark scorecards
  • docs/cloud-mapping/ — Appendix F: cloud implementation mapping (dated August 2026)
  • skills/ — Appendix G: structured agent skill standard
  • listings/ — the fourteen code listings the book abridges, in full
  • samples/ — two small runnable examples with tests

To run the examples you need a current Python 3 release and pytest. From the root of the repository: python -m pytest, then python tools/check_book_pointers.py to confirm that every path the book prints exists.

Checked on 7 October 2026 against the edition being prepared for sale: the printed address resolves here, the repository opens without sign-in, all fourteen listings the book names exist, and the tests and the path check pass. Some appendix folders are plain-text conversions of the book's appendices and are being tidied. Nothing here is a numbered release yet; see Editions and versions.

Why enterprise-digital-brain? Enterprise Digital Brain is the name of the book's companion implementation, described in Chapter 25. The GitHub organisation is named after it.

What is illustrative

The listings are teaching examples. Each is labelled in the repository with what was checked: whether it parses, and whether it is complete enough to run on its own. Several are fragments and will not run as saved. The two samples run and are tested, but they are small: a keyword router and a string comparison. They illustrate ideas; they are not the architecture.

What is not supplied

The complete Enterprise Digital Brain environment is not part of the public repository and is not offered with this edition. Chapter 25 describes its design, and the setup commands printed there assume a project tree that is not supplied. The repository contains no code laboratory, Terraform definitions, enterprise template set or quality-intelligence challenge.

Optional: reader-only material

Separate from everything above. It is optional, the book does not depend on it, and you do not need it for any public resource.

Reader-only repository: how access works and where it stands

A private GitHub repository is intended for registered readers: sign in with GitHub, answer one question that needs the book open, and accept the invitation GitHub sends.

Step 1 of 3. Sign in with your GitHub account. This site sees only your public GitHub username and account number. It cannot post, read your repositories or act on your account, and it does not keep the sign-in token.

What this checks, honestly

It checks that you have a GitHub account and had the book open. It cannot check that you bought it: Amazon does not tell authors who their buyers are, and every printed copy is identical, so a barcode or ISBN identifies the edition, not your copy. If you are borrowing a copy, the question will not stop you — and that is fine.

What is kept: your GitHub account number and username, when you passed, and which question you answered — so access can be restored or removed. No email address, no password. See the privacy notice.

Editions and versions

No release has been published against a printed edition yet. When one is, it appears here with its version, compatibility note, licence and checksum.

If something does not work

A printed path cannot be corrected after printing, so if an address in the book does not resolve, that is a defect worth reporting. Use the contact form and choose “The book or companion resources”, or check the errata first.
